This section looks at understanding, identifying and optimizing the search terms people we want to target. I have noticed that transsexual porn is often referred to as "she male" in the adult industry. However, potential customers searching for this may use any of the following search terms:
"chicks with dicks movies"
"tranny porn"
"TV sex videos"
"xxx tranny trouble"
As adult webmasters, our goal is to find as many potential porn subscribers as possible to sell our smut to (either directly, or via an affiliates program). The majority of people find porn on the web via search engines such as Google, MSN or Yahoo. Therefore, we want to know what keyword phrases our audience are searching for and how we can capitalize on these search terms.
Trying to target the term "porn" as a search term may seem like a idea - we are selling porn, right? So that's what people type into the search engine to find it, yeah? They may use it for a quick search, but most people are more likely to search for their favourite turn on or a fantasy. Something more like "milf handjob videos" or "big titted blonde sucking cock". Search terms such as these say are much more useful for specifying what the user wants to see. Searching just for "porn" is like going into a supermarket asking the assistant "where is the food?"
Keyword searches typically use search terms of between 2 and 5 words. A greater number of words used for a search term equates to a higher chance of selling to the user. A popular saying in SEO is shorter surfers keyword are shoppers, longer keyword users are buyers.
If you were looking for your site and didn't know it existed, what term would you type into Google to find it? What niche does it fall into?
N.B. We have made some fundamental SEO mistakes with our site! However, the next few homework assignments will correct these.
